Nicaragua is a poverty stricken country plagued by a history of war, corruption and natural disasters. In 1998, Hurricane Mitch devastated NW Nicaragua leaving one million homeless refugees surrounded by death.
In January of 2002, Pastor Tom Gable visited this area in Nicaragua with a short term mission team. His heart was touched by the faith, friendliness, and joy of the Nicaraguan people and at the same time he saw corruption and a spiritual oppression that broke his heart.
A native pastor asked Tom for help in starting a new church in the village of Candelaria. Tom and Linda and a team of mission minded Christians from the US eagerly took on this exciting project and began sending teams to help . Thus, "Mission Nicaragua" was born!
Tom and Linda Gable relocated to Nicaragua for full time service to New Song Mission in June 2007. Jim Bob Norman joined the full time team February 2008. The mission has expanded and grown from the first community church project to other villages in the area and many people are being blessed and helped as the Kingdom of God advances.
